The Host Organisation

The 2050 Climate Group is a group of young professionals working together to educate, engage and empower young people to lead the transition to a low carbon Scotland. In 2016 the group delivered its first major programme of work, the Young Leaders Development Programme (YLDP). In February 2017, the 2050 Climate Group was incorporated as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).

The group is managed by a board of 23 volunteers and assisted by a further group of 36 operational volunteers. There is currently 1 employee, the Operations Manager, whose job is to assist the continued growth and impact of the 2050 Climate Group. The 2050 Climate Group is an organisation for young people run by young people and as such our whole team is aged between 18-35. As part of a new and dynamic organisation you will be expected to work closely with the team to carry out a variety of duties.

The 2050 Climate Group is incubated by the charity Young Scot and the Operations Manager is currently based at their central Edinburgh office.

The Role

This post will enable the development of the 2050 Climate Group through key operational, logistical and administrative support, particularly in the delivery of the organisations core project, the Young Leaders Development Programme (YLDP). This will involve supporting individuals and groups in the YLDP and the Leaders Network (alumni of the YLDP) to develop and lead their own activities, projects and ideas. In particular managing administration, information and data around this.

Key Responsibilities:

● Crucial to this role is working between the Operations Manager, board, operational team members and other key lead contacts on different activities.
● Regularly liaise with Young Leaders and other lead contacts to support YLDP Projects, Events and Actions, including their evaluation.
● To assist and prepare the production of project evaluation reports and other written materials.
● Management of data and information of the Young Leaders and Leaders Network whilst adhering to data protection policies and procedures. 
● To assist in the co-ordination and delivery of all activities for the 2050 Climate Group.
● To represent the 2050 Climate Group externally where relevant/required.

Key Tasks:

● To create a 6 month impact report by collecting, managing and analysing data on the YLDP and Leaders Network participation, particularly in relation to Young Leader-led activities e.g. event attendance, personal records, correspondence received, action tracking.
● Produce content for reports on impact and engagement for internal and external use.
● Support for operations and administration including minute taking, co-ordinating bookings, and administering the Inclusion Fund.
● Manage the group email address, respond professionally to general enquiries and assist with newsletters.
● Assist in the collation of information for funders.

To carry out other duties as required by the 2050 Climate Group.

The Candidate

The candidate will be:

● Educated to Degree standard or above or by relevant experience (E)
● Experience of studying, working on or basic knowledge of sustainability and climate change (E)
● Excellent organisational skills, including ability to manage multiple tasks and projects (E)
● Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work across teams (E)
● Excellent written and oral communication skills (E)

● Experience of working with cloud-based applications and mailchimp (D)
